+McDONALD, Thomas
101st Siege Bty., Royal Garrison Artillery. Gunner. 67686, Died of wounds on 07/07/1916 of wounds received on 02/07/1916. Thomas had been in the army for nine months when he was killed. Born 17/07/1896. Son of carpenter Robert James McDonald and Lila McLaughlin, of Ballymena. The couple had married in Ballymena RC Chapel on 07/11/885 and lived at 7, Larne Street, Ballymena. Carnoy Military Cemetery, France.

+THOMPSON, Alfred Maurice
RAMC. Captain. Attached 7th Royal Sussex Regiment. Killed in action, the day before his 31st birthday, on 07/07/1916. He had stopped to attend the wounds of the battalion adjutant, some 80 yards in front of his own lines in Mash Valley, just north of the village of La Boiselles. He was using a waterproof sheet to drag the adjutant back to within a few feet of the trenches, when he was fatally wounded by shrapnel. He was recommended for the Victoria Cross for his actions that day, having previously been mentioned in dispatches. Alfred was born on 08/07/1885 in Brussels, the son of Alfred and Florence C Thomson of 9 Osborne Mansions, Northumberland Street, London, and later of “Breowra”, Marlborough Avenue, Belfast. He lived in Belgium until the age of 7. Educated at RBAI, QUB (MB, BCh, BAO 1909), Kings College. He was a physician and living at Napsbury, St Albans, when he joined the RAMC. Commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial (pier and face 4C), Somme, France

+DONLEAVY. William Stephen
AB. HMT Bendigo. Died 07/07/1918. Age 26. HMT Bendigo, ex Ben Lomond, sunk by submarine action off Kinsale. Son of the late George and Cathleen Donleavy, Ferris Point Lighthouse, and Ballylumford Cottage. Brother of Mrs. Barlowe, 24 Station Road, Larne.

+KENNEDY, George Kennedy

1st Battalion, Royal Irish Fusiliers. Fusilier. 7047367. Died 07/07/1944. Aged 25. Son of James and Ellen Kennedy, of Lisnaskea. Co. Fermanagh. Naples War Cemetery, Italy.
