October 11 – Roll of Honour


Today marks the birthday of Lieutenant Geoffrey St. George Shillington Cather, 9th Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers a 36th (Ulster) Division Officer, who would be awarded the Victoria Cross, for gallant actions on the 2nd July 1916. The Roll today records nine men who died in Belgium, France, and at sea, on this date, serving their country.

Tyrone. Prior to enlistment he worked as a linen and cotton Weaver. Mont Huon Military Cemetery, Le Treport, Seine-Maritime, France.
