Dunkirk Memorial to unknown. Seven NI men on today’s Roll who fought the rearguard action in 1940 to Dunkirk have no known grave. This is their memorial. Nicholas Acheson of Gosford and Albert McIlwee of Limavady died in HMS Hereford in 1941 evacuating troops from Crete. In 1943, 21-year-old AB William Grainger DSM died in a Motor Gun Boat. In 1944 Wm McCormick of the Skins died at Cassino.
