July 28 – Military Crosses awarded. Roll of Honour

On this day in 1914, WW1 got underway. In 1917 the Belfast Newsletter reports award of Millitary Cross to James McMechan of Downpatrick and John Kelly from Belfast. In today’s Roll Thomas Wright a North Irish Horse Private from Ballyrashane is killed a few days after his brother. Samuel Lyttle a Royal Navy ERA from Pomeroy dies in Hong Kong.
