August 5 – VJ Day and Commonwealth contribution in the Far East. Roll of Honour

John Boyle from Coalisland served with Australian infantry and George Coleman from Dungannon served with Canadian forces in WW1. John Witherow from Derry and his brother both died. Two men from the RUR and Skins died in Sicily in WW2. William Rowan, RAF aircrew from Ballymena, died as a Japanese POW. James Douglas a C of I Chaplain with Dunmurry links died in Normandy. He was Lt Alec Guinness RN at Sicily long before Starwars.
