August 19 – Northern Ireland’s Japanese POWs. Roll of Honour

George Thompson from Castlerock survived shipwreck in HMS Exeter and became a Japanese POW. Alix Joy from Belfast was lost with 21 WRNS in SS Aquila in 1941. Five from NI fell in the Dieppe Raid of 1942. Two were from HMS Caroline and three from RAF.
