Four RN men died in ship losses in 1916 and 1940. William Adrian from Ballyclare, a former QUB Training Corps member, lost his life trying to dig out comrades whose trench had been hit. Charles Feeney, Royal Ulster Rifles, Airborne, awarded a Military Medal for bravery under fire on 07/06/1944, drowned on a reconnaissance patrol. Edward Thornberry, an RN flyer was killed during the attack on the battleship Tirpitz in a Norwegian fjord.
