September 29 – Royal Inniskilling Fusilier awarded Victoria Cross. Roll of Honour

On this day in 1918, the Allies smash through Germany’s ‘Hindenburg Line’. Within 43 days, WW1 will be over. The Roll today reflects the cost of the attack. Among the fallen is 25-year-old Ernest Seaman, who was awarded the Victoria Cross. David McCandless from Portstewart died with Australian infantry. Millar McGuigan of the North Irish Horse died of TB in 1919 as a result of war service. Four RAF men in Singapore, Egypt, England, and the Netherlands represent WW2 in the Roll.
