Nine remembered today died near Hill 41 in one of the fiercest engagements of WW1 this day in 1918. They were mostly Royal Irish Fusiliers including several former NIH members. In WW2 Joe McKee of Rich Hill died in HM Submarine Thunderbolt. Royal Artilleryman Samuel Boyce from Portadown died in Hong Kong. Veteran William McCugan lost his right leg in 1918. Son of a Portstewart tram driver, he lived until October 1968.
