
Ernest Fitzsimon from Bangor knew the full story of the Unknown Warrior. Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers from Derry and Dungannon fell in the First Battle of Ypres preventing the allies being cut off from the coast. Three RN men from Derry and Belfast, Robert Dinsmore,Samuel Foreman and John Rosborough died in 1944 when their landing craft hit a mine off Ostende. Veteran John Carson, a banker in civiian life, saw action in a landing craft on D Day.
