The four WW1 men remembered today rest in Egypt, Belgium and England. Five RAF crew reflect the demands made in WW2 carrying the war to the foe. They include Sam Allen from Ballymens who died as a POW of the Japanese, and Isaac Kennedy from Ahoghill, lost over Hamburg. The entry for Aircraftswoman Joy Coleman is a reminder of the deadly presence of TB in WW2. Our veteran today is Bill Epstein of the Belfast Jewish community who served in the Royal Navy in WW2. Post-war he became an academic of international stature.
