Today’s Roll reflects hard times for the Inniskillings in the Munich Trench in 1916 and for the Royal Irish Rifles at Cambrai in 1917. Hugo Fisher died in a German Field Hospital in 1917. His widowed mother, the first woman doctor in NI, went to serve in Malta’s military hospital. Two Naval Reserve officers are lost in HMS Rawalpindi in 1939. 1943 and 1944 entries reflect the growing cost of war for the RAF. Photo – Cairo War Memorial Cemetery.
