
In 1914 Fred Bradley from Moy was one of the first NI submariners to go ‘on eternal patrol’ when Submarine D5 was sunk by a British mine off Great Yarmouth. In 1943 the Skins were in a fierce fight near St Vito in Italy. Archie Porter from Upper Ballysillan was among their fallen. Edward Cassells was gassed during WW1. He died on this day in 1928 aged 38. His funeral was to Killowen Parish Graveyard beside the church in which he was married to Mary Gough in 1913. War time WAAF Joy Clements married and settled in NI where she became a noted artist.
