December 5. Choir welcome for returned Japanese POW. Rolls of Honour

Today in 1945 the choir of Dunmurry welcomed home their member Billy Coates who had been a Japanese Prisoner of War. 19 Japanese POWs are recorded today including RAMC medic Frank Pantridge, awarded a Military Cross for his services in Malaya and who later developed the cardiac defibrillator. Robert Flood a former student at Dungannon Royal School was awarded an MC for gallantry at Ypres. Thomas Lucas emigrated from Moy to Canada and joined the RCAF. This day in 1940 his plane was in collision with another plane and he was killed instantly in the accident.
