January 3 – On this day. Roll of Honour

In today’s Roll Matt Smyth and James Young of the West Belfast Volunteers who died on the Somme in 1916, a Belfast submariner lost in 1918, and Thomas Clifford, a Derry seaman who was at Jutland, survived the war. The RN Officer who recovered the Enigma machine died this day in 2015. See photos of a 40 strong dismounted escort party of the Ni Horse at the funeral of their Hon Colonel, the Duke of Abercorn.
