April 3. Service from Canada to Karachi. Roll of Honour

On this day in 1919 Admirals Jellicoe, and Beatty (above) were both promoted to Admiral of the Fleet. They were both C in C of the Royal Navy Grand Fleet during WW1 and both key players at Jutland and their contributions have been under discussion since. Coleraine-born David Donnelly returned from Glasgow to enlist in the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. He died in France aged 19 in 1918. On the same day, William McCurdy from Rasharkin died as a German prisoner of war being captured during their 1918 Spring Offensive. In 1944 Walter King from Waterside, Londonderry died near Naples, Italy, serving with the Inniskilling Fusiliers. William Wilson from Hillsborough died with the RAF in Gaza in 1945.
