
Today is the anniversary of the rededication of the Queen’s University War Memorial by Field-Marshal Viscount Alanbrooke in 1950 marking the addition of the names of the fallen in World War II to those of the Great War. Among those remembered today, is Trevor Bennet, an RIR officer awarded an MC, who had taken part in the advance on Theipval and died with the Royal Flying Corps in 1916 in aerial combat. Henry Ewart an Orangeman from Muckamore who was a WW1 POW died on the same day. In 1918 Walter Curry who had emigrated to Toronto died in Belgium. He is named on Dungannon WM. Viscount Stuart from Stewartstown died serving in Royal Armoured Corps in north Africa in 1942. He is named on the Alamein Memorial, Alexandria.
