Harold Black from Ballycastle served with Canadian infantry in WW1. Armoured Corps officer Francis Charles died on the first day of the battle of Alamein, he was the son of a WW1 medical officer from Cookstown. Flight Lieutenant (Navigator) John Wright from Dunmurry died in Greece in 1943. He is remembered at Suda Bay. Keady-born John Finlay enlisted in 1942 and took part in the D Day landings. A Sapper in the Royal Engineers, he died during the invasion of the Netherlands in 1944. Today’s veteran is Thomas Buchanan from Lisburn. The WW1 medical officer was a centre of mystery as to whether or not he had been killed.
