February 2. Foundation of RAF Regiment. Roll of Honour

In 1917 William Wilson an army doctor from Bushmills died whilst attached to the Nepal Carabiniers. Another doctor, Hugh Given from Cullybackey died in India serving with the RAF in 1943. He had been married just four months previously. RAF man James Macready from Bushmills, rests since 1944 in Bari War Cemetery, Italy. Veteran Hamilton Carr from Downpatrick died in 1920 as a result of war service. One of his brothers died in the South African War and another with the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers at the Marne in 1914. This week in 1942 the Royal Air Force Regiment was formed by Royal Warrant. Their motto, Per Ardua – Through adversity.
