March 3. Inniskilling veteran’s service to NI Commonwealth Games Council. Roll of Honour

Today’s Roll of Honour includes the records of a Belfast officer William Lyons who was adjutant of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers in WW1 and Edward Polley an officer with the Royal Canadian Engineers in WW2. Both had been members of QUB Officer Training Corps. There are quotations from moving correspondence from an officer and Rev. Andrew Gibson (Lurgan), a Presbyterian chaplain, who laid his remains to rest, to the parents of Hector McAndrew, an 18 year old casualty from Randalstown. In 1918 Coleraine-born William McClean was lost in HM Drifter Expectation. The post-war civic service of Thomas Morrison, a decorated officer of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, included the Northern Ireland Commonwealth Games Council and is recalled in today’s Veterans entries.
