
The short story of three men from an Ulster hamlet. One was awarded an MM and DCM. William Swain serving with the Royal Naval Division – sailors in an army role – died in Gallipoli this day in 1915. John McClinton who played rugby for Inst and North died on the Somme in 1916. He was one of three brothers serving. Jack Crichton died with the Canadian army in 1917. He had roots in Coalisland and Belfast. David Glendinning died in HMS Whirlwind in 1940. His remains rest in Dundrod Presbyterian Graveyard. His father Robert served in 3 RIR in WW1. Terance Moane from Brookeborough is remembered on the Alamein Memorial, Egypt.
