July 17. Ballymoney WW2 RAF pilot served in Vietnam. Roll of Honour

WW2 veteran Wing Commander Tom Pinkerton from Ballymoney is honoured at the US Air Force museum for his contribution in rectifying major gunship problems in Vietnam. William Lynn of the Royal Irish Fusiliers died on the Somme in 1916. He was one of four brothers from Coalisland to die in WW1. William Fitzpatrick from Bangor and Charles Mitchell from Ballintoy were lost in HMS Newmarket in 1917. Another Pinkerton, William, an Inniskilling Fusilier from Ballymoney, died in India in 1942. Belfast man James Magee formerly of 502 (Ulster) Squadron died over Serbia in 1944. Photo – Australian Imperial Force Burial Ground at Flers on the Somme.
