
A Roll today of thirty men from NI who died at Arnhem includes James Boyd from Portstewart serving with the Glider Pilot Regiment, James Cameron from Carrickfergus of the Parachute Regiment and formerly of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, Francis Dolaghan from Belfast who was Shan Hacket’s batman and Robert Percy from Ballymena in the RAF. From a contemporary newspaper report see – Fighting Sid from Sandy Row stayed at Arnhem. Men from Belfast and Larne perished in Glenfoyle, one of the disguised identities of the Q Ship, HMS Stonecrop, which was sunk by a U boat on this day in 1917.
