November 21. Sinking of Britannic, sister ship to Titanic. Roll of Honour

The Britannic, sister ship to the Titanic, was being used as a Hospital Ship when she sank in the Aegean Sea on this day in 1916. Andrew Carson from Dungannon served with Canadian infantry. He died this day in 1916 and is remembered on the Vimy Memorial, in Pas de Calais, France. Robert Stewart from Larne served with New Zealand forces. He died at Polygon Wood in 1917 and is remembered on Cairncastle Presbyterian Church WM. Patrick Toner from Coleraine and William Wisoner from Tobermore died in Egypt serving with the Royal Artillery in 1941. They were killed when the column was strafed by a German Bf110 fighter. In 1943 Flight Lieutenant William McCarroll from Ballymena was lost off the Italian coast. His son William was born after his father’s death. David Corry from Newtownards died serving with Royal Scots Fusiliers in 1944. His brother Henry died in 1941 serving with the Gunners.
