December 12. Cookstown and St. Souplet. Roll of Honour

Harden Scott from Bangor was one of the first officers in the Royal Flying Corps. He received his Military Cross from the King on 29/08/1917 and died within two weeks of returning to France. In 1941 Gunner Alex Wilton from Portstewart died in Egypt. Another Portstewart man is listed in the Veterans Roll today. Hugh Hunter born today in 1892, emigrated to Canada and served with Canadian Field Artillery in WW1. Staff Sergeant Eugenio Pellegrini was an Italian Immigrant who lived with his family at Church Street in Cookstown. He is thought to have died as a result of an accident whilst on home service in England in 1943. RAF. Group Captain. Peter Casement was from Ballycastle, County Antrim, and fought throughout the Second World War. See his entry in today’s Veterans’ Roll. WW2 decorated Naval flyer, Michael Torrens-Spence died on this day in 2001.
