March 14. Two WW1 Royal Navy officers honoured. Roll of Honour

Last Post sounding at the Menin Gate Memorial,Ypres, where the names are engraved of two Royal Irish Fusiliers in today’s Roll – Francis Madden from Dungannon and Fleming McCready from Tobermore. Walter Tennyson McCurry, a young medical officer from QUB is also remembered in Ypres Ramparts Cemetery. They died in 1915. In 1918 Daniel Millar, a Canadian Gunner from Portstewart, died three days after being hit with a gas shell. He is remembered on War Memorials in the town and parish church. Hubert Kyle, Royal Artillery from Clogher, Charles Brighton, RAF from Fivemiletown, and Robert Hamilton, Royal Navy, from Newtownards represent the three services in WW2.
