May 21. Bangor brothers costly RAFVR service. Roll of Honour.

Geoffrey and Eric Bowman from Bangor were both lost flying with RAFVR in WW2. In 1941 William O’Neill from Limavady was lost in HMS Juno off Crete and Tudor Beattie from Portrush, a 5th year Medical student from Queen’s, died in RAFVR in France. Three NI submariners, James McAlister from Bushmills, Robert Murray from Ballymena and Hugh Patterson from Greencastle died as their ship was attacked in a tragic mistake in 1942. Both veterans today are from Coleraine. Timothy Carroll survived the Battle of Jutland in WW1. Air Vice Marshall Cecil Beamish and two brothers served in WW2.
