July 11. Seven Battle of Britain pilots from Belfast school and Guitar symbol of friendship. Roll of Honour

A guitar became a memorial of friendship between NI pilots Noel Corry and Sydney Ireland and their colleagues. They were two of the seven former pupils of Belfast school RBAI, in “The Few”. Hadyen Floyd, a doctor’s son from Kilkeel died with the Royal Flying Corps in 1916. Reggie Morgan an officer with the Royal Ulster Rifles died at Sainte-Honorine in Normandy in 1944. Those of “The Few” who were lost and have no known grave are now commemorated by CWGC on the Runnymede Air Forces Memorial along with over 20,000 men and women of the Air Forces.
