July 13. Belfast husband awarded VC today in 1945. Roll of Honour

Ted Chapman from Wales survived the Belfast Blitz with his sweetheart. They married and he won the VC in Germany. Read their story. James McFadden from Dungannon died serving with the Parachute Regiment in Sicily in 1943. Royal Ulster Rifleman James Moffett from Ballynahinch died in Normandy in 1944. He had ten years’ service. Today’s Roll includes eight WW1 Royal Navy veterans. Also in today’s Veterans Roll is Gunner Thomas Gamble from Coleraine who served with the Middle East Forces in the Western Desert, Egypt from 09/09/1940 – 10/12/1943, including The Battle of El Alamein 1942. And then with the 1/15 Light AA Regiment (8th Army) in Italy from 1944 – 1945. Photo – The costly origin of this cemetery is included in today’s Roll of Honour here –
