In 1915 Aughnacloy born Jimmy Reid serving with the Canadian Army Veterinary Corps, died from cerebral haemorrhage due to a kick from a horse. In 1916 Dungannon RS educated Hamiton Burrowes died serving with the South African Veterinary Corps. In 1917 the News Letter reported that Lieutenant George York Henderson,Royal Irish Rifles, had been awarded the Military Cross. He did not survive the war. Thomas Corrin was organist in Holywood Parish. He served in both World Wars and died on this day in 1940. Burma casts its shadow in WW2 entries. In 1944 Thomas Grimley from Dungannon died there. In 1946 two RAF servicemen from Belfast, Robert Dunlop and Robert Treacy, were among 22 lost when their Dakota came down in one of the biggest aviation disasters in Burma.
